Masonry contractor in Tampa, FL - brick and mortar repairs that fit the problem
Cornerstone Tampa Concrete and Masonry is a masonry contractor based in Tampa. We repair brick and mortar on older homes and build new block walls, stone work and paver driveways across the city.

Masonry work across Tampa
We're based in Tampa, and a lot of our calls come from right here in the city. I see older houses with brick chimneys and mortar worn back from the face of the brick, newer block homes that need a garden wall or a paver driveway, and duplexes and condos mixed in on the same streets. We do the same work across the bay in St. Petersburg and down in Riverview.
Your price moves with the size of the job and the material you pick, while the schedule turns on any permit and inspection from the City of Tampa. I'll put your own figure on the estimate. On the older houses, the real question is usually how much of the original brick can stay, because that decides most of the work.
What we do for Tampa homes
Foundation repair
A crack in the foundation of an older Tampa house gets a close look first, so we know whether it needs a patch or a bigger repair.
Chimney repair
Plenty of the city's older homes still have brick chimneys, and loose brick, a cracked concrete cap or open joints up top are what we usually fix.
Tuckpointing
We grind out worn mortar joints on Tampa brick homes and refill them with new mortar matched to the old, so the wall reads as one wall again.
Brick repair
We cut out cracked bricks or ones flaking at the face and replace them one at a time with brick picked to match your house.
Driveway pavers
Paver driveways suit a lot of Tampa lots, and we dig out, pack the base and lay the pavers so they sit flat under the car.
Retaining wall construction
Where a yard drops off or a bed needs holding back, we build a retaining wall with a drain behind it so water doesn't build up against it.
Masonry restoration
Older brick and stone around Tampa often needs more than one fix, so we plan the cleaning, new joints and brick repair together and work through them in order.
Fireplace installation
Want a fireplace in a Tampa living room or out on the patio? We build it in brick or stone, sized to the space you have.
Stone veneer installation
Stone veneer, thin stone set over a block or framed wall, dresses up the front of a Tampa block home without building a full stone wall.
Concrete block walls
A lot of Tampa houses are concrete block, so a new garden or privacy wall in block matches the house and takes the same painted finish.
Foundation block wall installation
For an addition or a new building on your lot, we lay block foundation walls to the plans, level and square for whatever goes on top.
Outdoor kitchen masonry
We build the block or brick base and grill surround for an outdoor kitchen on your Tampa patio or beside the pool, laid out around how you cook.
Walkway construction
A paver or stone walkway from the driveway to the door is a common ask here, and we set it on a packed base so it sits even.
Brick wall installation
New brick walls next to an older Tampa house should look like they belong, so we match the brick, the mortar color and the joint to what's there.
Stone masonry
From a stone garden wall to steps or a pillar by the drive, we cut and fit natural stone by hand so each piece sits tight.
Brick pointing
When only a few joints on your brick have gone soft or sandy, we point just those, raking out the old mortar and packing in new.
Ask about your masonry job
Call (813) 471-5857 or use the form, and I'll come look at the wall, joint or driveway you're worried about.
Why Tampa homeowners call us
I answer the phone, I come out to look, and I'm on site with our crew when we do the work, so the person who quoted it is the one building it.
Repairs sized to the problem
Older Tampa brick often needs a few joints, not a rebuild, and if that's all it needs, that's the job.
Bigger problems told on the spot
If I find something more going on, I tell you before I leave the driveway so you can decide.
Permits pulled for you
When a job needs a permit, we pull it, deal with the office for your address and set up the inspections.
Licensed, insured and guaranteed
We're licensed and insured, and every job is backed by our satisfaction guarantee.
Learned beside my father
I learned masonry working next to my father and have run this business since 2013, mostly on brick, mortar, block and stone.
Tampa masonry questions
How do I find out if my Tampa masonry job needs a permit?
Ask the City before work starts, because its list of work that needs no permit covers things like flooring, painting, cabinets and gutters, not brick, block or stone. Call Construction Services at 813-274-3100, Option 1, weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and if your job does need one, we take it from there.
Does a condo or duplex masonry job in Tampa use a residential permit?
A duplex does, and a condo unit doesn't. The City uses residential permits for single family homes and duplexes, and commercial permits for condo units, triplexes, apartments and mixed-use buildings, so tell me which you have when you call and I'll plan around it.
How do inspections work on a permitted masonry job in Tampa?
Any work that needs a City permit also has to be inspected by the City and get a final inspection approval. We schedule those visits as the job moves along, so you aren't the one chasing them.
Which building code applies to construction in Tampa right now?
The City says the 9th Edition of the Florida Building Code, the state's building code, takes effect January 1, 2027. An earlier City notice put the 8th Edition into effect in January 2024, so if your job is permitted around the new year, ask me which edition it falls under.
How much does masonry repair cost in Tampa?
Your cost comes down to how much work the wall or chimney really needs, and I'll write the number on your estimate after I've seen it. Matching old brick on an older house, a permit with its inspections and a wall that's hard to reach all add to it, while fixing a few joints instead of rebuilding keeps it down.
How long does a masonry job take in Tampa?
It turns on the size of the job, the material and whether a permit is involved, because the inspections set part of the pace. Pointing a few joints is a short job and a new wall or driveway takes longer, and I'll walk you through the timing when I come out.
